Using Check-Inn on the Windows 8 Operating System

Posted on October 30, 2012

Windows 8 is now available.  You can purchase a new computer with the Windows 8 operating system, or you can upgrade your current operating system to Windows 8.  Microsoft charges a fee for this, but it is much smaller than other upgrade fees have been in the past.  Click here for more details about upgrading to Windows 8.

We have fully tested Check-Inn and our other software and hardware components on Windows 8.  However, we never recommend switching to a brand new operating system until after the first post-release Service Pack is available.  This has long been the conventional wisdom when considering a change to your operating system.

Many of our customers are still utilizing Windows XP.  This was an excellent operating system when it first came out in 2001 and remained a very popular OS for years afterward.  Unfortunately Microsoft will discontinue support of Windows XP on April 14th, 2014.  It is a good idea to start planning on upgrading to a newer operating system well before that date comes around.

If you are on an older computer and are interested in upgrading to Windows 8, it would be a good idea to verify that you meet the minimum requirements to run it.  Click here for a helpful guide about preparing your computer for Windows 8.

As always, if you have any questions about running Check-Inn on your computer, please call our support team at 503-643-8162, option 2.
