Extreme weather can lead to power surges and power outages. Power issues can lead to computer problems like damaged files, lost data, and even hardware failure. To protect against power issues Innsoft recommends the following preventative measures:
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) – A UPS, also known as a battery backup, performs two important tasks. First is to even out the flow of power in the event of spikes or dips in power. Second is to provide power in the event of an outage so that the computer or other device connected can be shut down properly. If you have a UPS, test it. If you don’t have a UPS, get one.
Data Backups – Verify that the Auto Backups are setup correctly and perform Manual Backups at least once a day. We recommend that you turn on Auto Backups A and B. Your Manual Backup should be saved to an external hard drive or flash drive. It is always better to have a backup and not need it, than to need a backup and not have it.
